Research Assistant/Associate - Cell Culture & Bioprocessing
BlueNalu is a San Diego-based startup in the alternative protein space. The company is pioneering the process for producing seafood products derived directly from cells. We are using cutting-edge cell culture technologies and advanced bioprocessing methods.
At BlueNalu, you will change the way healthy seafood is produced. It will be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Candidates should be highly motivated, and must be familiar with cell culture methods and growth media development. The successful candidates will join a small team, where everybody’s contribution is equally important.
Qualifications & experience
MS or BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or equivalent
1-5 years of relevant work experience, industry experience preferred
Hands-on experience preparing cell culture media
Knowledge of bioreactor setup and maintenance
Familiarity with scale-up of suspension cell cultures
Demonstrated expertise in handling primary cells, cell line development and growth media optimization
Adequate computer skills for data acquisition, data management, andreporting
Works effectively and communicates well in a team environment
Ability to multitask and document activities with detail
Sense of humor
Hands on experience with bioreactor setup and monitoring
Experience with culture of primary cells from fish and other non-mammalian species
Experience with bioprocessing methods
Experience with skeletal muscle cells (satellite cells, myoblasts, etc.)
Experience with QC and cryopreservation of cell banks
Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including immunocytochemistry
Run and maintain bioreactors
Isolate & expand primary cells from fish
Generate & maintain multiple cell lines and banks
Screen growth media compositions to optimize culture conditions
Perform other common lab duties as assigned
